Thousands of travelers showed up before dawn today at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to beat theThanksgiving travel stampede.
Airport officials estimate 2.2 million passengers would pass
through the airport's five passenger terminals from November 15th
through the 27th. That's comparable to last Thanksgiving's volume.
The Miller family of Mansfield, near Fort Worth, arrived two
hours early to allow time to handle the crush and crowds. The
father, David Miller, says it looked to him like thousands of
others acted on the same idea. He says that "made traffic a lot
smoother than anticipated."
Fort Worth middle school teacher Kyle Martin had a confirmed
reservation for an afternoon flight to Chicago. But he showed up
before dawn to try to get out earlier on standby.
