Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, was the only winner among the five incumbent Democratic Congressman targeted by the contentious GOP-led redistricting fight in Austin last year.
Edwards defeated State Rep. Arlene Wohlgemuth, R-Burleson, in the newly drawn 17th Congressional District, which was designed to give a Republican candidate a 20-point advantage.
On Wednesday, Edwards will visit Burleson, Glen Rose, Meridian, Clifton and Hillsboro to thank voters for their support.
On Friday Edwards will make stops in Grimes, Madison, Limestone and Robertson Counties.
Edwards won in all but four of the new district’s ten counties.
Wohlgemuth outpolled Edwards only in Grimes, Hood, Johnson and Somervell Counties
