(November 26, 2007)--It was a horrific end to the Thanksgiving holiday as a Chicago-to-Dallas passenger bus with 44 passengers and a driver aboard crashed into a pickup truck on a eastern Arkansas interstate overnight.

Three people were killed, including two in the bus.

The crash happened late Sunday night on Interstate 40 about 35 miles west of Memphis, Tenn. near Forrest City, Ark.

Arkansas State Police say the westbound Tornado Bus Company bus crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming pickup and 18-wheeler.

State police say pickup driver 40-year-old Danny Okurily of Hot Springs was killed, as were two bus passengers whose identities haven't been released.

Bus driver Felix Tapia of Brownsville, Texas, and tractor-trailer driver David Rice of Mars Hill, N.C. suffered minor injuries.

State police haven't said how many others were injured but a Tornado Bus manifest listed 44 passengers and a driver aboard the bus.

Shortly after the crash, a State Police dispatcher said about a dozen victims were extricated from the bus.

Witnesses said children were among the passengers.
