(December 2, 2007)--Residents of Mexico City celebrated the opening of a new attraction in the heart of the nation's capital city.
More than 15,000 people turned out Saturday evening for the inauguration of a new ice-skating rink in Zocalo square.
The celebration featured a fireworks display along with a laser light show.
Mexico City mayor Marcelo Ebrard presided over the opening.
The rink will be one of three ice skating venues operating in Mexico City through the holidays.
The rink cost about $1.5 million.
