Former President George H.W. Bush has suspended a trip
to Ecuador because the jet he was going to use crashed Monday
Houston.
All three people aboard the jet died Monday when the plane clipped a tall light tower at a Beltway Eight toll plaza in Houston, shearing off a wing, and crashing into a nearby field about 100 yards away.
The plane was on approach to Houston’s Hobby Airport on a flight from Love Field in Dallas.
The jet is owned by Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Jet Place Incorporated.
Jet Place operations manager Robert Randall said two male pilots and a female flight attendant were on board the plane, but he declined to release their names.
He did say the company had never had a crash before.
The former president was supposed to have boarded the plane for a flight to Ecuador where he was supposed to take part in a business conference in the port city of Guayaquil.
A conference organizer said the elder Bush has put off his trip until next month.
