(December 8, 2007)--A Georgetown police officer has been charged with sexual assault for allegedly raping a woman.
Authorities say Sgt. Jimmy Lewis Fennell, Jr. and other officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex.
The woman's boyfriend was arrested at the scene, and Fennell handcuffed the woman and put her in the front seat of his squad car.
The woman told police she thought Fennell was taking her to a hotel where she could spend the night.
But instead, she told police Fennell drove her to a park, removed her handcuffs and asked her to dance for him.
He then ordered her to put her hands on the car's trunk and assaulted her, according to an affidavit.
Fennell, 34, remains in the Williamson County Jail with bail set at $250,000.
His attorney declined to comment on the case.
