Country singer Pat Green canceled a New Year's Eve concert after undergoing emergency surgery for appendicitis, a concert promoter said.

Green was in good condition Thursday after being admitted to a Dallas-area hospital on Wednesday, said Greg Henry, president of Austin Universal Entertainment.

Green grew up in Waco and lives in Fort Worth. With a dedicated following in Texas, Green has been working to build his fan base around the country. His most recent album, "Cannonball," came out in August 2006.
