Police Release Identity of Man Killed in January Fire

WACO (February 20, 2012)—Waco police have released the identity of a man who died in a January 18 fire at a residence on Springdale Dr.

The man was identified as John Jeffrey Oliver, 49.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Oliver is thought to have been staying in and around the Waco area and is believed to have been homeless.

His remains were identified using dental records.

The cause of the fire and the cause of his death are still under investigation.

An autopsy was ordered.

A neighbor reported the fire.
