License Plate Found After Deadly Texas Hit-And-Run Leads To Arrest
A license plate found at the scene of a deadly Texas hit-and-run that claimed the life of a bicycle rider led police to a drunken driver.

HOUSTON (January 24, 2012)--A van license plate that was found at the scene of a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicycle rider in the Houston area led to a DWI arrest, authorities said Tuesday.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Jerad Thomas was charged with driving while intoxicated and failing to stop and render aid in the accident, which happened at around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Authorities say the driver sped away, evidently not realizing that the license plate was knocked off during the accident that killed Frank Corona, Jr., 53.
Deputies tracked down the owner of the van, who told them a friend was using the vehicle.
He took officers to the suspect's home where deputies found Thomas was asleep on a stairway, with the van keys under his body.
The van owner then took officers to the friend’s home where deputies found the suspect asleep on a stairway with the van keys under his body, Sheriff’s Sgt. S. Wolverton said.
