Texas Man Convicted Of Sexual Assault Of Child During Church Outing

(January 16, 2008)--A 65-year-old man has been convicted for inappropriately touching a 6-year-old girl during a church outing to a movie theater in May.

A Corpus Christi jury delivered guilty verdicts against Stephen Douglas Livingston, of Odem.

He was convicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

Livingston was a former deacon at First Baptist Church of Sinton.

Court officials say he's also been indicted on three counts of indecency with a child in San Patricio County.

After the verdict, Livingston apologized to some of the girls' family members and said he believes in second chances.

He faces a maximum of life in prison.
