(January 17, 2008)--A magician was jailed Thursday on an aggravated kidnapping charge after a nine-year-old girl briefly was taken from her Lewisville school.

Bond is $200,000 for 22-year-old Daniel Catarino Reyes.

Reyes was arrested Wednesday after police were notified that the girl had been taken from the Creekside Elementary campus without permission.

Reyes allegedly had the child for about an hour before returning her to school.

Police say it appears the girl wasn't physically harmed.

But her parents told KTVT television that the magician took their daughter to his house and subjected her "to videotaping and sexually explicit behavior."

The parents also say the child was blindfolded during part of her disappearance.

It was unclear what Reyes was doing at the school.

A spokeswoman for the Lewisville school district didn't immediately comment.

A jail official said no attorney of record was listed for Reyes.

I've gone in to the school and signed my son out and left...that secretary doesn't know me!!!!!!!! Schools need to make it a policy that if you want your child, you have to sign them out, the school will then look up your childs record and get the parents name and then check you drivers license...PERIOD!!!

I am not really surprised, most schools claim to have a policy for visitors and children, but I have heard of more and more times when their policies don’t work or are not enforced. With children being removed from schools all the time without the school faculties knowledge something needs to be done, put alarms on all doors with a backup camera so that the persons moving through them are possibly identified, and have a more stringent access policy that only allows the proper people to have access to the children. We hear about disgruntled parents picking up children that they have no legal custody over taking them and then something horrible happens. Parents and the whole school community need to push for stronger standards that will be enforced, ultimately this falls on the faculty of the schools, but needs to start with the parents.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!How does someone just walk into a school and take your child? This school needs looked into. There is no excuse for something like this to happen. Where were school officials/teachers when this took place? This is very disturbing that someone can just walk right in a school and take your child. What if he had not brought her back? I'm angry about this.
