(January 25, 2008)—Marcus Ray Stephens, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault and deadly conduct in a Dec. 7 shooting in Waco that left an 86-year-old woman injured, police said Friday afternoon.
He was served with warrants Wednesday at the McLennan County Jail where he was already in custody for a parole violation.
Robert Louis Stephens, 25, of Waco is also wanted in connection with the shooting.
Police said he’s Marcus Stephens’ cousin.
The charges stem from a drive-by shooting in the area of North 25th Street and Colcord Avenue.
Irene Barton of Waco was struck in the hand by a bullet fired by the driver of an SUV through the window of the van in which she was riding.
Her son took her to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she was treated.
Officers who responded to the scene found two other victims who had been driving northbound on North 25th Street when a shot was fired through the rear window of their car.
They weren’t injured.
They told officers the driver they saw the driver of a dark-colored SUV firing from the window and said a passenger in the SUV was firing at their car as well.
Anyone with information about Robert Stephens’ whereabouts is asked to call Waco police at (254) 750-7500 or Waco Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP.
