TEMPLE (April 13, 2012)—A Friday morning robbery in a west Temple neighborhood forced four Belton ISD school campuses to initiate a soft lockdown for about an hour.
Temple police Sgt. Brad Hunt said Lake Belton Middle School, Pirtle Elementary School, Tarver Elementary School, and Lakewood Elementary School were on soft lockdown for about an hour beginning at 7:20 a.m. but there was no indication the robbery suspects were ever on any of the campuses.
Hunt said at about 7:15 a.m. Friday a man walking along the 8600 block of Hogan Road in Temple was approached by two other men, one of whom was carrying a handgun.
The two men demanded the victim’s belongings and then left on foot.
The victim described the suspects as a black male and a Hispanic male, both wearing all black.
Officers, including a Temple Police K-9 Unit, searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.
No one was injured.
The campuses were placed on soft lockdown as a precaution, Hunt said.
The area where the robbery was reported and the school campuses are only a few blocks apart.
