(February 1, 2008)--An inmate's wife must serve eight years in federal prison for slipping a gun to him after he broke out of the Hood County Jail.
Tiffany Michelle Johnston was sentenced Friday by a judge in Fort Worth.
She admitted to aiding and abetting a felon in possession of a firearm.
Jason Lee Johnston in October was convicted of attempted murder of a federal officer, assault of a federal officer using a deadly weapon and use of a firearm to commit crimes of violence.
Prosecutors say Johnston fled jail last July while awaiting his transfer to the Texas prison system to serve a 30-year term for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The inmate, who shot at a law officer after his escape, was later caught in Granbury.
Johnston faces a maximum life prison term when he's sentenced Feb. 15.
