Scattered attacks Monday in Iraq claimed the lives of ten more Iraqis including six civilians who died when a car bomb exploded.
Seven others were injured in the blast, which pulverized three nearby cars, set fire to an apartment building.
Police say a car bomb in eastern Baghdad killed three Iraqis, including two officers.
Police say it hit near a passport office, wounding another six people.
A hospital official says a car bombing near a U.S. military convoy in northern Iraq killed a woman and wounded four other civilians.
Officials say more than 120 people have died in attacks since Iraq formed a new government last week, including 11 U.S. soldiers.
Meanwhile U.S. and Iraqi troops are keeping up the pressure on insurgents.
They have arrested 84 suspected terrorists in 19 different raids in the last 24 hours, officials said.
The largest of the operations netted 40 arrests in raids early Monday morning after an insurgent fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a Task Force Baghdad patrol.
“The Iraqi Security Forces continued improvement and steady progress is to be applauded,” said Lt. Col. Clifford Kent, a Task Force Baghdad spokesperson.
“More and more the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police forces are taking the fight to the terrorists and they’re succeeding in stopping them.”
