Man Found Dead In Burned-Out Trailer Was Shot To Death

(February 7, 2008)—A man whose body firefighters found in a burned-out trailer Wednesday just outside of Belton had been shot to death, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The victim was tentatively identified as Nolan Ray Brantner, 53, but investigators said the man’s identity may not be confirmed for some time.

They said he was dead before the fire started.

The trailer was behind a house in the 4100 block of FM 1123, just southeast of Belton.

Bell County Fire Marshal Steve Casey said neighbors from across the street called firefighters after they noticed a glow and saw the fire just before midnight, Tuesday.

Bartlett, Holland and Little River Volunteer Fire Departments arrived on the scene to find the travel trailer engulfed in flames.

Firefighters said the hot fire quickly consumed the trailer; the victim’s body was discovered after the fire was under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
