An insurgent detonated a bomb Wednesday outside a police recruitment center in Irbil, about 200 miles north of Baghdad, killing at least 50 and injuring 150.
The explosion destroyed at least seven cars and damaged seven buildings in the predominantly Kurdish city.
The attack was the deadliest since Feb. 28 when an insurgent detonated a car bomb in a crowd of police and Iraqi National Guard recruits outside a medical clinic in Hilah, south of Baghdad, killing 125 and injuring more than 140.
Wednesday’s attack came as Iraqis lined up outside the recruitment center to apply for jobs.
The attack Wednesday boosted the death toll in Iraq to about 200 since Insurgents stepped up attacks last week.
