A majority of Texans say they are driving less because of sharp increases in gas prices, according to the latest Texas Poll.
The poll found that 64 percent of one thousand respondents are driving less, 53 percent are eating out less and 45 percent are going to fewer movies.
About 60 percent of Texans say the price of gas has caused financial hardship at home, up from 42 percent in October.
Sixty percent of respondents also think gas prices will increase over the next year.
The Scripps Howard Texas Poll poll was conducted April 14 to May 4.
It has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
Gasoline prices reached an all-time high of $2.18 a gallon recently before retreating slightly.
