(February 26, 2008)—A resident of Piedras Negras Mexico was arraigned Tuesday in Del Rio on federal drug charges after a Department of Public Safety trooper’s curiosity about abnormalities in a flatbed trailer led to the seizure of 360 pounds of cocaine in Kinney County.

The cocaine has an estimated street value of $3 million.

It was found in 142 packages in a secret compartment in the flatbed trailer after DPS Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement troopers stopped the driver for a routine inspection Sunday afternoon on U.S> Highway 190 about 18 miles west of Bracketville.

Investigators think the shipment was headed from the Del Rio area to either Houston or Dallas.
