McGREGOR (June 22, 2012)—Ginger Baker, 24, of Waco and Chelsea Cheyenne Blackwell, 23, of Groesbeck died early Friday in a one-car accident, authorities confirmed Friday evening.
The accident happened at around 6 a.m. on Cotton Belt Parkway, about four miles south of U.S. Highway 84 just east of McGregor.
The two women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Autopsies were ordered.
DPS spokesman Trooper D. L. Wilson said the car in which the two women were riding along with a third woman and a man was traveling on Cotton Belt Parkway at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, struck a tree, and then rolled into a ditch.
The man was ejected from the car and the three women were trapped inside, a Department of Public Safety communications officer said.
Nina Marie Myers, 22, of Rosebud, was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco where she was listed in stable condition.
Dustin Cates Baker, 18, of Bruceville, was flown to Scott & White Hospital in Temple in critical condition.
None of the four was wearing a seat belt, the DPS said.
Cotton Belt Parkway was blocked to traffic early Friday because of the accident.
