16-Month-Old Son Of Astros Catcher Dies

HOUSTON (October 14, 2012)—Carolos Corporan, Jr., the 16-month-old son of Houston Astros catcher Carlos Corporan, has died.

Corporan told the team of the death on Saturday.

The team said Corporan’s son had undergone four heart surgeries since his birth in June 2011.

The team released a statement offering its condolences to the Corporan family, calling the boy's battle with serious health issues "an inspiration to so many of us."

Corporan, 28, agreed to a minor league deal with Houston in 2010.

He hit .269 in 27 games this season.
