16-Year-Old Boy Was Driving 18-Wheeler That Killed 2 Texas Women

LIMON, Colo. (July 15, 2012)--A 16-year-old boy was driving the 18-wheeler that struck and killed two Texas women who were changing a tire on Interstate 70 near Limon, Colo., authorities said.

The Colorado State Patrol said a 37-year-old man who was with the teen initially claimed to have been driving.

The teenager, from Sulphur, La., left before officers arrived at the accident scene.

He has been charged with two felony counts of leaving the scene of a deadly accident, as well as one misdemeanor count of careless driving causing death.

The man, also from Sulphur, faces one misdemeanor count of false reporting.

The truck struck the women at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Shun Jones, 48, of Carrollton, and Amanda Omo-Iyamu, 38, of Balch Springs were killed.
