ELGIN (August 2, 2012)—A Salado woman who died Monday along with her two small children in a fiery highway crash near Elgin that left another woman and her three children in critical condition was pregnant, according to an online obituary.

Elizabeth Ann Dowdy, 25, Fischer Phillip Dowdy, 3, and Benjamin Samuel Dowdy, 2, all of Salado, died Monday morning at the scene of the crash on State Highway 95, near Elgin.

Their obituary says Dowdy was expected to give birth in January.

Services for Dowdy and her children were held Thursday morning in Salado.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salado United Methodist Church/Dowdy Memorial.

Jeanette Marie Fields, 44, of Hutto,and her three children were seriously injured in the accident.

She was in critical condition Thursday at Brackenridge Hospital, in Austin.

Alyson Fields, 9, and twins Kayla and Lauren Fields, both 8, all also of Hutto, were listed in critical but stable condition Thursday at Dell Children’s Hospital, in Austin.

Department of Public Safety trooper Richard Sorto, of Austin, said a 2010 Mazda, driven by Elizabeth Dowdy, was northbound on Texas Highway 95 at about 9:50 a.m. Monday when it collided head-on with a 2006 Toyota, that was being driven southbound on Highway 95.

The Mazda burst into flames and burned so intensely that the three inside the car could not be identified.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office was able to identify the bodies through medical and dental records, a DPS spokesman said.
