BRUCEVILLE-EDDY (August 2, 2012)—Bruceville-Eddy police and Texas Rangers are searching for a small dog that they believe was given away a day or two before the dog’s master was found dead in her home.
The dog is a 7- to 8-year-old Pomeranian female named Patches.
Patches has been spayed and wears a blue nylon harness with a heart shaped tag on it.
Patches’ former owner, Carol Jean Wagner, was found dead in her home on Tuesday.
Police believe Wagner’s estranged boyfriend, Jerry William Borchardt, gave the dog away to someone between July 27 and July 30.
Borchardt, currently on parole from state prison, was questioned about Wagner’s death Tuesday and later released without being charged.
Bruceville-Eddy police are asking anyone with information about Patches whereabouts to call the Bruceville-Eddy Police Department at 254-859-5964 or the Texas Rangers at 254-754-2303.
Police also are searching for the veterinarian who treated Patches.
Wagner’s son found her body at around 5:40 p.m. Monday, swaddled in a blanket in her home at 108 Pinto Drive in Eddy.
Authorities don't know how long Wagner has been dead or how she died.
