HEIDENHEIMER (August 4, 2012)—Department of Public Safety fugitive investigators have arrested a Cameron man who was wanted on drug and evading arrest warrants out of Milam County.
Kenneth Alvin “WeeGee” Montgomery was held Saturday in the Bell County Jail awaiting arraignment and bond after his arrest on warrants charging possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, evading arrest or detention, tampering or fabricating physical evidence, and on a parole violation warrant.
Montgomery, 53, was arrested by task force members on Friday at a residence in Heidenheimer, according to a news release from the Cameron Police Department.
Cameron police Chief Randy Dixon said officers had been searching for Montgomery since a Cameron police officer tried to stop a Ford Expedition on July 16.
When the officer activated his emergency lights, the driver of the Expedition sped away and was able to elude the officer.
Officer Greg Eakins reported as he chased the Ford, he watched as the driver threw several packages out the window, all of which later proved to be narcotics, including crack cocaine and marijuana.
At one point the driver stopped the Expedition and escaped on foot.
When DPS task force members caught up with Montgomery in Heidenheimer, he was arrested without incident.
