HILL COUNTY (August 10, 2012)—A fiery one-vehicle rollover accident Friday morning had Interstate 35-W northbound closed at the 8 mile marker while at least one helicopter landed on the roadway.

Details were sketchy but it was known that at least one person was being flown to an area hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the wreck.

A Department of Public Safety communications officer said troopers notified her of the accident just after 8:15 a.m.

Hill County Sheriff Jeffrey Lyon said fire departments were sent to the scene to extinguish a vehicle fire, which first units reported was fully engulfed.

Lyon said northbound traffic on the highway would be blocked for some time while the helicopter was on the scene and afterwards while crews cleared debris from the roadway.
