(March 17, 2008)—A 12-year-old girl was taken to Scott & White Hospital Monday in Temple after falling from an indoor climbing wall at a city-operated recreation center.

The girl’s injuries were not life threatening, according to a Temple Fire and Rescue press release, and she was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The girl fell from the wall onto a cushioned surface just after 9:30 a.m. Monday at The Summit Recreation Center at 620 Fryers Creek Circle, which the City of Temple operates.

A Summit employee called 911.

According to the Fire and Rescue press release, Summit employees inspected all of the climbing wall equipment Monday morning and determined it was all in good working condition.

I heard the call go out on my scanner. It was reported that the harness broke. How often are the inspected? Hopefully daily or now should be.
