Fort Hood Soldier Dies In Helicopter Crash On Post

One 4th Infantry Division Aviation Brigade soldier died and a second was injured Monday in the crash of an Army AH-64D Apache helicopter.

The helicopter went down at about 7:30 p.m. Monday in a training area north of Lake Belton.

The two-man crew was on a flight-training mission at the time of the crash, Fort Hood said.

The injured crewmember was taken to Darnall Army Community Hospital.

Information about the extent and severity of his injuries was not available.

Nov. 29, 2004: Army Blackhawk Helicopter clips support wire on KXXV TV tower, crashes and burns in field near Bruceville-Eddy, killing all seven soldiers aboard. Helicopter was assigned to the Fourth Infantry Division.
