BELLMEAD (September 12, 2012—Bellmead police, assisted by Department of Public Safety troopers, were searching Tuesday night for a man who eluded officers earlier in the evening after they tried to serve an arrest warrant on him.
A Department of Public Safety spokesman said at around 10 p.m. officers had set up a perimeter in the area between Airbase Road and Clover Leaf Road, along Meyers Lane, in an effort to find the suspect.
A DPS trooper had attempted to stop the suspect on an earlier date and a short chase ensued, but the suspect was able to escape.
After the trooper identified the suspect a warrant for his arrest was issued, and that was what officers were trying to serve on Tuesday night.
A helicopter was brought to the area Tuesday night to assist in the search.
It was not clear Wednesday morning if the suspect had been captured.
