(March 26, 2008)—An Oregon man who claims he is pregnant, sparked skepticism from those who live around him.

In a first-person article for April's Advocate magazine, Thomas Beatie says he is five months pregnant.

In the article, Beatie says he used to be a woman. He says he had breast reduction surgery and took hormones to become a man, but he says he kept his female reproductive organs.

Now Beatie claims he is expecting a little girl.

Neighbors of Beatie and his wife, Nancy, say they haven't noticed any baby bump. They did notice a television crew following them around, but they haven't seen him for days.

People who work next door to Beatie's t-shirt shop greeted the news with laughter.

Beatie told a Portland, Oregon television station that he was unable to comment on his situation for a week and a half.

The Advocate, based in Los Angeles, California, is a magazine focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.

As a foot note, there has been no confirmation that Beatie is pregnant and next week is April 1st.

LOL.....someone stated that he/she must have been cheating on his/her wife with a man....well, if he is still a she and has both sex organs....did he (or she)get themselve pregnant ...you know there are some insects or worms that can mate with itself....maybe he / she is one of those! LOL

This "MAN" is still a WOMAN with WOMAN parts.. Therfore she is able to get pregnant.. Just looks like a man! Poor child will be confused though!

Look Im 5 months myself and so is like two of my other friends and my thing is who the hell is he trying to fool, but oh wait next he’s going to be claming that he is having contractions in four months. I’m slim myself but I and no other Female around me look like we have just a fat pack sticking out. I mean get real if he/she really wants some attention tell “IT” to go get a dog and get a life! I mean if you really want to know what it really feels like to be pregnant then hey lets trade for one day and I promise you’ll want you so call Manish body back! It’s not right to make fun of a gift that only women were blessed with, and you jus wish that you could have, but life doesn’t work that way so grow up.

S/he stopped taking her male hormone pills to get preg after his or her wife could not. It really is gross. But when it comes down to it he is a she still, just looks like a boy. Poor child how confusing this will be.

This story is even on the national news and I, for the life of me, can't understand why it is newsworthy. SHE was born a female and is still a woman so of course SHE can get pregnant. What is so unbelievable to me is that the news organizations are wasting our time by printing it and talking about it. For that matter, why am I even wasting my time posting a comment about it?
