Texas Woman Sentenced To 80 Years In 3-Year-Old’s Death Save Email Print

(March 26, 2008)--After being convicted in the drowning death of her boyfriend's 3-year-old son in scalding water, a jury has sentenced a mildly mentally retarded woman to 80 years in prison.

Twenty-eight-year-old Veronica Herrera will be eligible for parole when she is 58.

The San Antonio jury, which found her guilty of murder Monday in the June 2005 death of Andrew Joshua Fox, decided on her punishment Tuesday.

Herrera had been eligible for probation or could have received a prison term of up to life.

That is correct Grandma. I was going to say why not give her life without any chance of parole. But Grandma you have said a mouth full in your few words. Let the prison women take care of her. And what was the Dad thinking leaving that baby with her. But I will not be so hard on him because hopefully he is in his right mind and this will haunt him for the rest of his life. I know there are those of us who must work, but when my children were babies we were blessed to have 2 people in our lives that cherished and took care of our children the way we would. Parents let do more research before we leave our treasure(s) with anyone. They are helpless and defensely all they can do is just take whatever is done to them. So parents, stop, think, research, and plan. God Bless.
