800-Pound Texas Woman Charged In Nephew’s Death Save Email Print

A | A | A

(March 26, 2008)--A La Joya woman believed to weigh at least 800 pounds has been charged with capital murder in the death of her 2-year-old nephew.

Mayra Lizbeth Rosales initially told authorities she fell on Eliseo Gonzalez Jr. while he was left in her care.

He was pronounced dead March 18.

But Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe TreviIno says an autopsy found the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

A coroner found the boy had at least two skull fractures.

Rosales was arraigned Wednesday in her home by a justice of the peace.

Rosales was freed on a personal recognizance bond due to her weight-related physical disabilities.

The victim's mother, Jamie Lee Rosales, is held on $50,000 bond on a charge of injury to a child for leaving the boy with someone not able to care for him.

In her case, we can't say "throw her the book"...throw her a bone

Sounds to me like the mother may be getting off a little too easy. You don't leave a 2 yr old with a bedridden person.

how is an 800lb woman supposed 2 care for a child, she needs a babysitter herself!

Posted by: DP Location: Waco on Mar 27, 2008 at 03:01 PM
How is the 800lb woman going to attend her hearing? Are they going to bring the court to her house? How is she going to be punished? Do they have a jail big enough for her? They just can't give her house arrest because she bed-ridden. I guess we will have to just watch and see.

so do they make handcuffs big enough lol

Posted by: Tasha Location: Killeen on Mar 27, 2008 at 11:34 AM
Why would you leave a 2 year old, with a 800 lbs. women, to take care of? I guess no one was thinking of the child. Yes, it's nice too have relatives to help you out, but some people really need to stop and thank about the situation. Yes, I would like too have some of my relatives to watch my children for me, but I know it would be to much. Just something to think about.

I Knew something was wrong with this picture- I even posted it on the original story. Not something to be proud about because the child died but it just didn't make any sense at all!

Posted by: Dave Location: Waco on Mar 26, 2008 at 11:50 PM How does a 800 lb person "fall"?"........VERY hard!

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 27, 2008 at 03:40 AM
ABC--- CAPS LOCK IS THE BEST.

How does a 800 lb person "fall"?

Posted by: concerned Location: mexia on Mar 26, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Good they both need charged and put in prison for a long time, if she hasn't confessed I would tend to believe maybe the mom did something to the child before or during the visit. How can a bedridden person get to the baby? I dont know i still dont think we are getting the whole story yet. But lock em up and throw the key away on both of them especially the mom for leaving the child in a bad situation like that. i blame the mom more.

Definitely need more info on this story! Just sad! Maybe the mom decided she didnt want him anymore and put him in a dangerous situation! Who knows! "ABC" please, I beg of you, turn of your "dame" caps lock key! If you want people to be able to read your posts stop "shouting"! I think im going to push for capital punishment for those that post comments in all caps!! Its a crime I tell ya!

Posted by: Me Location: Tx on Mar 26, 2008 at 06:54 PM
I wonder if she confessed to hitting or throwing the child against a wall? It doesn't say she confessed to anything. An accidental fall from 800 lbs onto a 2 yr old's head would be blunt force trauma and cause a fractured skull. Need more information, this doesn't sound right.

Posted by: CW Location: Killeen on Mar 26, 2008 at 06:25 PM
Amen! Both these women should be in jail! What a bad mother to leave him there in the 1st place and anyone who can harm a child like this dosen't deserve to live. This is just disgusting in more than one way.

Posted by: ABC Location: WACO on Mar 26, 2008 at 05:15 PM
I'VE HEARD IT ALL NOW ! NO EXCUSE LOCK HER UP AND THROW AWAY THE DAME ! NOW THIS WOMAN IS ABIG WASTE OF HUMAN FLESH!!!! WHAT CAN A 2 YEAR OLD CHILD DO TO GET DONE THIS WAY ? I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST A WELL OVER WEIGHT PERSON JUST CHILD KILLERS PUT THEM IN PRISON AND THROW AWAY THAT DAME KEY !!!! THE MOTHER ALSO HOW COULD SHE THINK THAT SOMEBODY THAT BIG COULD TAKE CARE OF A CHILD. LOCK HER UP AND LET HER THINK ABOUT HOW VERY STUPID THAT WAS . MAY THEY GET WHAT THEY DESEVER AND I HOPE THATS PRISON TIME!!!!!!

Posted by: susiebw Location: kempner on Mar 26, 2008 at 04:57 PM
I knew there was something "fishy"! They need to send the aunt to prison and the mother who left him there with that monster too.
