(March 27, 2008)—Waco police were looking for witnesses Thursday after a 12-year-old Tennyson Middle School student reported that he was kidnapped as he walked to school Wednesday morning.

The boy told police truck pulled up as he walked in the 900 block of North 43rd Street and that a man got out, approached him and grabbed him around the neck.

The boy told officers the man then forced him into the truck and began to drive off.

The youngster escaped by jumping from the moving truck in the area of Towne Oaks Drive and Sanger Avenue.

He ran home and told his mother he had been abducted.

Police were called shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The man was described as white, between 40- and 50-years old, standing 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3 and having a thin build.

He had brown and gray hair and a thick mustache, police said, and was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

The truck was a blue Chevrolet extended cab with a standard transmission, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the abduction or about anyone matching the man’s description to call either the Waco Police Department at (254) 750-7500 or Waco Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP.

I raised 4 kids and they taught me well to not believe everything they said. I agree that this story just isn't quite ringing true. At least it is making people aware that there is real danger out there.

Anybody hear about something similar in Temple this morning?

Posted by: P Location: Mexia on Mar 28, 2008 at 09:06 AM
Something is odd about this story. The boy jumped out over a half mile away and ran all the way home to tell? Didn't run to closest house or store or authority of any kind? and it was 10:30 when police were notified, when did he start walking to school?

Hope they find this creep fast!

KUDOS! for the boy, Not everyone would have enough courage to escape from a kidnapper and from a moving vechile. I hope he does recover from this experience that hopefully won't haunt him. KUDOS!!

It is a horribile thing when we can't even let our kids walk to and from school. The world is not the same as it was when I was a kid. Is life really getting better? I thought my kid had it made with all the better things he has that I didn't. At least I was safe with my doors that were never locked, walking to and from everywhere, and all the freedoms I realize now that I had.

Hopefully they will find this man quick, before any other child is grabbed.

My daughter is in 8th grade at Tennyson Middle and gets mad at me because I wont let her walk home. So I will let her sit down and read this and let her see now what MIGHT have happened to one of her friends. And the sad thing is there are tons of kids that walk to and from school everyday so maybe the parents or someone else can pick them up after reading this story. I am glad the child was able to escape because a lot of them can not. God Bless them. Tennyson Texan Mom.

Thank God, one got away!!! Let's just hope that this young person is not emotionally scarred and that he doesn't walk to school ever again.

God Bless this young man. He had the courage to get away. What a frightening experience. It sounds like he kept his bearings and and think clearly, as it probably save his life. Parents, hug your kids and let's find this monster and get him off the streets!!!!
