Central Texas Minister Indicted On Child Pornography Charges Save Email Print

A | A | A

(March 26, 2008)--A Waco-area minister who was arrested on child pornography charges in September was indicted Wednesday by the McLennan County Grand Jury on ten counts of possession of child pornography.

Henry Elbert Edgington, 64, was originally charged with seven counts after a relative found a box containing child pornography at Edgington's home and contacted Waco Police Department Crimes Against Children detectives.

Police spokesman Steve Anderson said Edgington who was a minister at the Elm Mott Church of Christ near Waco, told officers he was doing research to get some Web sites shut down.

But Anderson pointed out that, "Unless you have a badge, it's illegal to look at child pornography, no matter what your motive."

Edgington posted $70,000 bond and was freed after his arrest.

God has nothing to do with this. This is about a disturbed person with evil intent. He will get what he deserves. I'm just glad he was caught.

This, unfortunately, is coming out in all forms of professions and how sick our world is. However, the Lord said there is nothing hidden from the eyes of the Almighty. The Lord also said the devil can appear as an angel of light. Satan is out to kill, to steal and destroy all that is good. Don't blame God for the sins of men for all have sinned. There is not one who can say you do not. Look around and see all the corruption every single day. If we ever need to pray and have a revival, it is now. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the light." He will judge and you can be sure of it. He also said to whom much is given, much is required. The pastor is not God. He has the job of teaching the people and that task should not be taken lightly. It shocks me to the core each day but I am holding on to Jesus and will never lose my faith in Him.

Im with Rachel! You can believe in god all you want but i wouldnt trust any ministers, pastors and especially priests around my children! organized religion is the breeding ground for a lot of evil and most of the time the flock looks the other way! I hope this pervert goes to prison and gets rump wrangled daily!

A little clarification about the "badge" remark: If a police officer is tasked with investigating child porn, then that officer is duty bound to work the case. If a police officer isn't detailed to a specific case involving child porn and is caught with child porn, then that officer would be arrested and charged just like anyone else. That is the way it is supposed to work, anyway.

Thank God he's not my brother. I don't think I can pray for that one. First a crime (child porn) second a (lie). Not all the prayer in all the churchs can help this wacko.

look Rachel you are very wrong missy.....

Just because he has a title dose not mean a thing, it dosnt mean he was closely connected to GOD, and yes we can pass a rightous jugdment of SIN.. What if the pictures he had were of your kids HOW WOULD YOU FEEL THEN. Now this man has fallen hard humility/conviction is the key. But in the end just hope it will lead him to repentance.. And just make sure your heart is right with God because just ask your self this question if you were to die tonight where would you spend eternity... Is It HEAVEN or HELL......

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 27, 2008 at 12:20 PM
ITS TERRIBLE TO HEAR OF SOMEONE THAT IS SO HIGHLY RANKED AND CLOSELY CONNECTED TO GOD TO BE CAUGHT RED HANDED DOING THIS. BUT ITS SCARY TO SEE EVERY ONE TRYING TO BE GOD BY PLACING JUDGEMENT. PLEASE PEOPLE REMEMBER OUR PLACE WE ARE HEAR TO PRAY FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ALL TIMES OF NEED AND TO LET ONLY ONE GOD PASS JUDGEMENT.

"Unless you have a badge, it's illegal to look at child pornography, no matter what your motive." So, law enforcement officials are the only ones "legally" allowed to look at kiddie porn???

This saddens my heart. It goes to show no one has to be on a registry to be a pervert. I know of a registered sex offender who claimed the same story. He finally admitted he was using it for sexual gratification. Get this man some help, and by all means he needs to face his judgement though the courts. That is going to be the easy part, God will dish out the real wrath. Rachel I pray a special prayer for you as I write this. God is saddened by a remark like you running from a church. I do believe it is between you and God, and not a building. I hope that is what you are saying it is the building and not God you are running from.

ministers are no worse than any other group. No boundaries are set when it comes to those who abuse in this way to say that those in the church are worse than others is prejudicial and wrong. My heart breaks for victims of abuse but anyone with a lick of sense knows that perversion is a an issue that crosses every racial, political, class and ethnic boundary there is. I know too many good ministers to say it is a problem with them all. And I know a lot of crooked atheists too!

why is it the badge exempts one from potential prosecution?, the law people are running close in theor corrupt activities to what all these religious molesters are doing. nothing puts anyone above the law, that includes law enforcement either looking at or conducting research of this filth, it will pollute anyone's mind given long enough exposure to it.

and to think people wanted huck to be pres. if rachel from temple is correct, we can only imagine what huck was hiding.

Posted by: George Location: Ding Dong, Tx. on Mar 27, 2008 at 07:51 AM
Unfortunately the worst crooks and whackos I've known were ministers.

Posted by: Rachel Location: Temple on Mar 26, 2008 at 10:24 PM
I swear ministers are some of the biggest perverts I have ever met!!! I wouldn't trust my children alone with one of them for three seconds. As someone who used to be in the ministerial crowd, I can tell you that most of them are hiding something!!! Yuck, you are just another sticker on my chart that says run from the church, buddy!!! Thanks for the reinforcement

Posted by: Jimmy Location: Belton on Mar 26, 2008 at 08:21 PM
It's illegal to look at child porn unless you have a badge. Or you're a pastor doing research to shut down website. I don't care what credentials you have, it's just plain sick to think of children as sexual objects. Guess he'll be the object of Bubba's affection in prison.
