WACO (September 26, 2012)-Waco police were sent just after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to an address on Bosque Boulevard after a woman reported her brother had shot at a man who was trying to break into her home.
When the first officers arrived at 2119 Bosque they couldn't find anyone who was shot, but several patrol cars converged on the area and began an extensive search.
A police dispatcher first sent officers at 5:36 a.m. to a burglary in progress after a woman at the house called 911 and said someone was trying to break into her home.
Just minutes after the first call the dispatcher told the officers who already were en route that the woman, who was still on the phone, said the intruder had been shot.
Officers at the scene said a brother and his sister live at the home and both were there when the incident happened.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said an initial report indicates the woman heard someone she believed was breaking into her home and she awakened her brother.
The brother grabbed a shotgun and fired several shots through a bedroom window.
Swanton said investigators have not been able to find any evidence that there was a break-in.
Police at the scene said they could not determine how many shots were fired but they did seize a shotgun from the residents.
Police said they could not find any blood trail outside the home but there were at least nine police cars at the scene and officers were spread throughout the neighborhood searching for a suspect.
