Weekend Shooting Victim Identified

(March 31, 2008)—Waco police Monday identified the man found Sunday in a backyard shot in the arm and abdomen as Marvin Dickerson, 38, of Waco.

Officers responding to a report of gunfire just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday found Dickerson on the ground behind a home at 3100 McKenzie Avenue.

Police said Dickerson did not tell officers who shot him or why he was shot.

Witnesses saw a red Ford Explorer in which four men were riding leave the area.

Dickerson was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.

It was the third shooting in three days in Waco.

Earlier Sunday, a man was found dead of gunshot wounds to the head.

On Friday, a man who was coming to the aid of a friend who was being robbed was shot in the head outside a South Waco convenience store.

Police say the three shootings don't appear to be related.

If you have any information about any of the shootings, call Waco police at (254) 750-7500.
