Tarleton State President Dr. Dennis McCabe plans to leave the presidency to return to teaching at the end of May after serving as president since July 1991.
“We are very fortunate and excited to have someone of Dr. Dottavio’s experience and energy as our finalist at Tarleton State University,” said Bill Jones, chairman of the Texas A&M System Board of Regents.
“He has a remarkable track record as an inspiring leader who brings together diverse groups to accomplish common goals.”
By law, A&M Regents must now wait 21 days before formally naming Dottavio to the post.
Regents Monday also named Dr. Carlisle Baxter Rathburn, the president of Savannah Technical College in Savannah, Ga., as the sole finalist for the presidency of Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
