Texas Teenager Gives Birth To Full-Term Baby At School

(April 1, 2008)—A 14-year-old Houston-area girl gave birth to a full-term baby Wednesday at school, police say.

The girl then allegedly attempted to flush the newborn down a toilet in a school restroom.

Students told police they heard the baby crying.

The infant was found dead, authorities said.

Police are treating the case as a homicide.

It happened at Cedar Bayou Junior High in Baytown.

Other details weren’t immediately available.

Police are investigating.

It happened just three days after another 14-year-old Houston-area girl gave birth to a stillborn infant in the restroom of a Continental Airlines plane on a flight back to Texas after a school field trip.

Police said Wednesday no charges will be filed against the teenager who told investigators she didn’t know she was pregnant.

SCHOOL KIDS SHOULD NOT HAVE BABYS.. i got preg at 16 after i left school and i would never do such a thing i love my baby soo much and want to protect him from everything im now 18 and people will say i was young but i was no longer at school and im very responsible.. what makes me so angry is 3 days ago my partners sisters baby died when she was 8 days over due her due date she went into labour and his heart stopped the whole family is devasted and then dirty little slags still at school go and give birth and then dump the baby, leave it some were and try and kill it, they are disgraces i hope they cant have anymore children so what they did tothere 1st child will haunt them forever!!!

why would someone drown a baby in da toilet dat is so wrong 2 do dat.its like they dont love their own child.i really feel sad dat da baby died i could at least takin care of da baby.if i wasnt ready for a baby on my teen years,i could at least give it 4 adoption,or maybe if id love my baby i could at least leave out da house n never come back n i could at least ask 4 help in a church.ireally feel sorry about dat da baby had died,if i wasnt ready 4 a baby,n if i wanted 2 have sex,dats why theres condoms 2 for protection,maybe da girl didnt used a condom before having sex

How do you not know you are pregnant? I can't believe that are not going to press charges, she tried to flush the baby. All she had to do was go and get someone. It is sad what the world has come to.

I had not heard this story but now that I have I do not believe any child could give birth without making a sound.I think the pain would have brought out screams and someone would have checked on the noise .What happened to the girls who heard the baby cry?Did they not report it to anyone?How about some charges for them too?Failure to render aid or something.I did not see any info. on the size of the child.Was it really full term?or a miscarrage?perhaps several months along but not all the way to term.Well anyway God will look after the baby no matter what happens here for the girl.I hope she gets lots of counseling in the juvi facility where I hope she goes.The law is to liberal to sterilize her most likely but that is what she needs because no one would wash a baby in a toilet no matter what your age.

I know everyone is down on the girl not knowing she was PG. With my first child I gained no weight, had a period every month, no morning sickness or anything that looked like I was PG. The Dr found out when he did a PG test on me so that I could get birth control pills. Just saying, she might not have known but once she delivered she KNEW!! That is when she screwed herself. Then she murdered the child and should be held accountable.

I think its stupid when kids have kids because WE the working class have to pay for this while they sit at home or quit school and there momma's raise the kids because the DADDY of the baby has already moved on and dating someone else. Here in our school's they already have built in daycares for these kids to drop there kids off and go to class. Might as well let them "DO IT" in the hallway since they are half way there. Makes no sense and I have aready told my 14 year old daughter you have a kid it will be going to school with you in your backpack and you can feed it in class because I wont be the one to take care of it. Plus her father would kill her so hopefully she is scared silly to do anything yet.

Parent of Boys, I personally appreciate you. I think that so much is said about girls and the parents and not that anyone is innocent but how much better would it be for a male to take a daily pill or get the shot until they are ready. I think that that is a great idea!!! As far as Lisa Jay is concerned, shame on you!!! Why would you think sometihng like this would be remotly funny?? And whether I can spell or properly use a computer to its fullest potential I know the differnce between right and wrong AND serious vs. a joke... I will have to give a big THANKS to my mom and dad for making me aware of the realities of life and wanting more for myself than just beinga statistic. Mel, get it right. The part you say was about her not getting charges. Wrong. They are treating it as a homicide. I am gonna break it down kindergarten style for everyone. A girl three days before gave birth to a stillborn fetus on a plane. THEN the girl gave birth at school and killed the kid. Accident or not. Probably not. (if she wanted to wash it, why didn't she use the sink??????) Anyways, they are treating the girl from the school as a homicide. How frickin hard was that? Dang, come on people. And for the high school students now days. Take a sex ed class, go visit some aids patients, someone with HPV who got cancer from it. Look up herpes and see what you could get. It is not a frickin game. Stay abstinent. Having babies is not a game or something you can take back. Enjoy your life, go to college, get a job, get married then do grown folk things. Parents, pay more attention to your kids. Have family night, talk to them, get involved in their school. WAKE UP!

This very sad, many people would have loved to have this baby. And the little girl who tried to comment on this "Samantha" You need to grow up little one, what normal person would try to "wash" a baby in a friggin toilet for goodness sakes. You need to worry about yourself not this girl and not have babies because apparently you think its ok to "wash" them in toilets?! Who raises these kids? All the innocent lives we loose each day because these kids wern't raised right is not ok. I can only say I will try my hardest to teach my children right from wrong and be open with them. I hope this little girl gets some reprimand it's just not something that should be ignored, she is old enough to have a baby and kill it she needs to deal with the consequences.

First this is such a sad story. I feel sorry for the innocent baby who was killed. Second it's the girl on the plane who claims not to have known not this girl. Third for all the parents out there that think their child won't have sex. Think again. Abstinence is what we hope for but almost never happens. Teach them responsibility and make yourself available to them no matter what they do. I once was that teenage pregnant girl. I've raised mine and yes I was too young but I did it. It sickens me when things like this happen. There are too many ppl willing to take a child and care for it. It also sickens me because for those of us who made a "mistake" as most ppl call it, stories like these make it harder for the ones trying to do the right thing because ppl automatically think the worst. And I put mistake in quotations because my daughter was never and will never be a mistake. I should have waited for sex but I have a wonderful daughter and no regrets. Some of us do do the right thing.

I commented on this earlier. In Houston, parents seem to just not care. I didn't however mention the race ratio of the pregnant teens that my 2 family member teachers there that try their hardest to educate these students. It's Houston and one can figure that out.

My daughter is 14 and believe me I KNOW what she does because she is VERY limitied in what she gets to do. Now a days you have to be. Her best friend/sister was Whitney that got shot and killed by her boyfrined at 13 years old here in Waco in January and SHE should have not been over there at that time of night and she would still be with us. You HAVE to be strict on your kids now a days and I am a single mother so it worries me more. Yes the boy should have some fault in it also but maybe she never told him so he had no say. Like I said at 295lbs i did not i was pregnant, know I am now 25 at 365lbs and i think my sun is the best thing thats ever happend to me although i did not volenteer to have him or to get pregnant it was a horrible situation and i dont regret any bit of it or nor do i hate anyone for it.

First of all Do you realize just because you were 11 and 295lbs, and you saying you didnt know you were pregnant. but i sure you knew you had sex when you should have been keeping your legs closed. I'm sure your not caring for this baby alone your mom now has to care for him. A burden you brought on her because of your thinking. Your a immature child who thinks we all believe that you didnt know you were pregnant. When you knew for a fact you were having unprotected sex, Sex for the matter at 11. what were you thinking it wouldnt happen to you. Hopefully for that child sake you gave him up to Adults that would care for him and give him a life that he would deserve. Instead of having a child for a mother. But we all know he's a doll to you. How could no one recognize the fact that this child was pregnant? If not noticing the weight gain then surely they would notice that she was acting strangely, I'm sure she was more than a little frightened about what was happening to her. I agree she should be held accountable for her actions. There is no excuse for what she did! There are so many good families out there that are desperate to have a child, I just don't understand where is the justice? I also think that the guy that got her pregnant should be held responsible as well. Children are growing up too fast and parents and teachers need to start paying closer attention.

I think the girl is so stupid. If she thinks she is old enough to get pregnant, then I think she should be charged for killing the poor baby at her school in the bathroom. That is so bad, I hope that she gets in serious trouble with the law, not only now if she is a Christian she needs to ask for forgiveness. Whether or not she knew she was pregnant is completely irrevelant. She still tried to flush it down the toilet. And it was definitely alive if other kids heard it crying. I hope she is certified as an adult, because she does not deserve a slap on the wrist that most juveniles get. And I agree with "Just Me". Whomever got her pregnant committed Aggravated Sexual Assault on a Child, just because of her age.

Young teenage pregnancy rate is very high in Houston. I have 2 family members that are teachers in Houston area public schools. With the influx of people moving into that area, it's only getting worse. Parents are not involved in their kids lives for whatever reason. Young girls living with older b/fs, older brothers, sisters, friends, the list goes on and on. And same for boys too (no parents around). In one class my niece is currently teaching, every girl but 1 is pregnant. The stories of two 14 yr. olds is tragic, but it makes one wonder how many more innocent lives have been destroyed that didn't make the news.........

I can believe that a woman can be pregnant and not know it. My own niece was in her 20's and did not have any signs of being pregnant (no missed period or anything). The only thing she did was gain a few pounds (which you can do NOT being pregnant). She finally went to the Dr per her mom's request and found out she was due in 6 weeks....she had the baby in 4. So YES, it CAN happen. It is a sad situation that happened with these young girls, but NEVER be too quick to judge and NEVER say......it can't or won't happen to me!!!!!!

This story is worded poorly and is confusing if you don't read carefully. The girl who gave birth to a stillborn infant on the plane is the one that said she didn't know that she was pregnant and will not have charges filed against her. This case is being treated as a homicide, as it should be. I sincerely hope that this girl faces some very serious consequences. I cannot imagine that complete lack of caring and maternal instinct that would allow a new mother to cold-heartedly murder her brand new baby.

Everyone needs to hold back on judging. There may have been some extenuating circumstances. Having worked with troubled youth for several years, I have witnessed some horrible things. For example, a 15yr old girl, raped by her stepfather and ended up pregnant. Due to the trauma of the rape, she lived in denial of that pregnancy. She went full term with only gaining 15lbs and it was difficult for anyone outside of the situation to be able to tell that she was pregnant. Unfortunately, neither one survived when she went into labor in a field near her home. Pray for these girls because that's what they really need when there isn't anything or anyone else left.

Why are kids these ages having sex? Does Sex Ed not take place in school anymore? Although having said that, it is the parents responsibility to teach their kids. What concerns me most is why this child didn't tell someone what was happening. Why would someone think murdering the baby is the answer? And to the 11 year old who had a son - I don't think you are in any position to be calling other people ignorant. You are a child yourself. Your job at this stage in your life is to go to school, get good grades and hang out with your friends and family - not have sex!

I posted this on the other story about the 14 year old girl who had her baby on the airplane, this is so tragic: How do you not know you are pregnant? I've never met a woman with a child, who did not know they were pregnant, even if they had a super easy pregnancy. This is such a shame. At 14, you understand the consequences of having sex. 1. They should not have had sex in the first place 2. Where were the parents of this girl?! Did they not explain how babies are made?!! Did they not pay enough attention to her to figure out she might be pregnant?! Parents should be very involved in a childs life!! This is a great example of why parents should engage more in their childs life, you aren't there to be their best friend, you are their to be their parent and look out for their well-being. I pray the baby died quickly, I hate to think it had to go through to much.

I believe that she didn't know she was pregnant. That isn't what shocks me. How can there be no charges filed when she knew that she was trying to flush a live, crying baby down the toilet. But, I really shouldn't be shocked. Today's society looks at abortion as just a convient way to fix an irresponsible act; so it is just a natural progression for people to see no difference in killing a baby either inside or oustide the womb.

OK let's do the math, haven't had a period for say 8 months, gained weight, breasts became tender at some point, had sex a while back, and possibly morning sickness, yep sounds like a pregnant person to me. Where is the parent who is supposed to be aware of what and where their child is?? I have 13 year old daughter and yes, I know who her friends are, where they hang out, and yes I even know how to track her online--- over protective- probably so, is she doing something she shouldn't be- NO. It's called parenting. Being responsible and teaching her to wait. The 14 year old who KILLED her child, yea it is easy for us to judge her. Maybe she was afraid to talk to her family, maybe she lived with her grandparents and didn't want to tell them but now an innocent child paid for her for lack of better word- ignorance. May the baby's spirit rest in peace with God.

Okay, I have a teenage daughter and i see her everyday...i know for a fact that her parents or anyone else that knew her saw a difference in her weight, this girl gave birth at full term there's know way she can say she did'nt know she was pregnant that is just her way of getting out of trouble...there's plenty of people who would love to adopt a child! SO SHAMEFUL!

i have 4 children and everytime i knew in at lest the 3rd month i was expecting the parents need to be arrested as well as the 14 year old girl that tryed to FLUSH a her new born baby down the pot.HOW CAN A WOMAN NOT KNOW SHE IS EXPECTING?? she knew how to have sex.........i hope i can educate my girls so this is not a consequence they will have to be faced with...the girl should be charged with murder she knew she was pregnant..........

This is sad to hear how could you not know your pregnant ..OMG i think young girls should be acountable for there actions even when it comes to having sex with boys and lying about there age and then the parents of the girl has the boy put in jail for rape and the boy has to pay for the rest of his life as a sex offender .. so not fair to the boy why dont they both have to pay ..its always the boys fault . where is the parents of theses girl why aren't they watching them closer .i could go on and on about this but i wont ..all i have to say is America wake up look at whats going on in the world we got young boys going to jail thats innocent and young girls getting to live a free life for something they had a hand in on also .girls just dont know what they are doing to the boys life .oh but they probable dont care .

What is wrong with kids these days? Something needs to be done and they need to be held accountable for their actions. If find it hard to believe that they didnt know they were pregnant.

It just kills me that these young girls "think" they old enough to have sex but they can not hanlde the consequences that comes with it. Do not have sex if you can not handle the responsibilities that come along with it. If you do not want the responsibilty of caring for the baby you can give it up for adoption. There are millions of people that can not have children that would love and care for that child they way a child should be cared for. There is no reason to take the life of an innocent baby or child because you made a stupid choice!!!!!!!
