(April 2, 2008)—The Texas Rangers have joined the investigation of the death of a 22-year-old Round Rock man who was shot to death Tuesday evening in a struggle with three Round Rock police officers.
The dead man was identified Wednesday as Bobby Lee Williams.
Police said he had recently been living with his half-sister in Round Rock.
It happened after the officers responded to a report that a naked man was “behaving aggressively” toward a Round Rock woman and running through adjacent yards in full view of several children, police said Wednesday.
The man drove off, but returned a short time later, police said.
At some point, the man attacked the officers, injured one of them and gained control of what police described as the officer’s impact weapon.
The officer suffered several minor injuries, police said.
He was treated at Round Rock Medical Center and was later released, police said.
The three officers, whose names were not released, were placed on routine administrative duty after the shooting.
