One Confirmed Dead, Two Still Missing After Fall From Interstate Bridge
Searchers have found the body of one of the three workers who plunged from an Interstate bridge when scaffolding collapsed, but the other two are still missing.

(April 3, 2008)--Rain and swift river currents are keeping divers from searching the Arkansas River for two workers from a Texas company who are missing and presumed drowned.

Three workers fell into the river between Little Rock and North Little Rock when scaffolding beneath the Interstate 430 bridge over the river collapsed Wednesday.

The third worker's body was recovered about eight hours after the collapse.

John Rehrauer, a spokesman for the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, said operations have been temporarily suspended.

“There will not be an active search" Thursday, he said.

Oscar Renda Contracting of Roanoke employed the three workers, who were working on a project to install a water main beneath the bridge for the Central Arkansas Water Utility.

Authorities expect the bodies will surface within days.

The names of the victims haven't been released.
