Man Arrested For Burglary After Domestic Disturbance

TEMPLE (October 9, 2012)—A Temple man who police say attempted to elude officers was arrested Sunday on a warrant charging him with burglary of an habitation.

Henry Laabs, 30, was ordered held on bonds totaling $251,500, charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and possession of marijuana.

Officers were sent Sunday evening to an address in the 800 block of North 10th Street after a caller reported a violent domestic disturbance.

The victim fled the scene to a neighbor’s home and locked the door, but the attacker followed her and forced his way into the residence.

Police said the attacker assaulted the victim and left the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators identified a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Officers located Laabs at his residence in the 800 block of South 3rd Street when he arrived home but when Laabs saw police, he fled on foot, police said.

He was captured without further incident a short time later, hiding in tall grass.
