KILLEEN (October 18, 2012)--Cliffton Sivad Montague, 26, was in the Bell County Jail Thursday charged with murder in the Oct. 11 shooting death of Latternace Deshawn Newsome, 24.

Montague was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bond.

He was arrested at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South 2nd Street in Killeen, a day after police issued a public appeal for information about his whereabouts.

Newsome was found shot to death just after 11 p.m. on Oct. 11 at an apartment in the 3200 block of Hereford Lane in Killeen.

Investigators determined he was visiting the apartment when he and another man began to argue.

The argument turned physical and the other man pulled a handgun and shot Newsome to death.
