By: Paul J. Gately Email

HAMILTON COUNTY (October 25, 2012)—A pilot was forced to land his airplane Wednesday afternoon on a rural Central Texas highway after he ran out of fuel just short of a local airport runway.

Lambert Wood Little was not injured and his Bellanco Cruise Master airplane was not damaged when Little was forced to land the plane on Farm-to-Market 2005 in Hamilton County just about 2 miles west of the Hamilton airport.

The incident happened at about 5:30 Wednesday and the roadway was blocked for a short time while crews cleared the airplane from the roadway.

The Department of Public Safety trooper who investigated the incident said Little reported he ran out of fuel and wasn’t able to make it to the airport runway.
