Good morning, it’s Wednesday, April 16, the 107th day of 2008. There are 259 days left in the year. We’ll start the day in the 50s and by this afternoon it should be in the mid 70s and breezy under a partly sunny sky. Clouds will increase tonight, however.

One year ago today, student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va. before taking his own life in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history.

On April 16, 1947, the French ship Grandcamp blew up at the harbor in Texas City and another ship, the High Flyer, exploded the following day. The blasts and resulting fires killed nearly 600 people and left another 4,000 injured.

One year ago, on April 16, 2007, in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history, student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg before taking his own life.
