WACO (December 3, 2012)--A truck tractor, semi-trailer hauling 5,000 chickens overturned at around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon just east of Bellmead.
Westbound traffic on U.S. Highway 84 at Aviation Parkway was restricted to only one lane while crews cleared the highway of debris and waited for another truck to pick up the cargo.
The driver was not injured, but many of the chickens were killed.
A Department of Public Safety trooper at the scene said the driver was going to fast to make the left turn off the highway onto Aviation Parkway and the truck and trailer overturned.
The trooper did not say to whom the truck belongs.
