Three-Vehicle Crash On Area Highway Leaves One Dead, 5 Injured

MILAM COUNTY (November 22, 2012)—A Wyoming man died and five people were injured Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash about three miles south of Cameron.

Milam County Justice of the Peace Andy Issacs pronounced Roman Michael Alfaro, 22, of Evanston, Wyoming, dead at the scene at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The Department of Public Safety trooper who investigated the accident said Alfaro was driving a 2002 Volvo northbound on U.S. Highway 77 when he attempted to pass a 2004 Freightliner truck tractor, semi-trailer that also was northbound and collided head o with a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt that was southbound.

Augustin Alfaro, 35, of Fort Worth, and Jose Alfaro Galvez, 76, also of Evanston, Wyoming, were taken from the scene to Scott and White Hospital, in Temple, for treatment of injuries.

Jason Cain, of Oklahoma City, the truck driver, Judy Richards, 55, of Weatherford, the driver of the Cobalt and her passenger Jennifer Richards, 58, of Kemp, also all were taken to Scott and White for treatment of their injuries.

Roman Michael Alfaro’s body was taken to Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home, in Cameron, where arrangements are pending.

He was not wearing a seat belt.
