Alerts have been sent throughout Louisiana and Texas in search of the families of five children who were separated from their families in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The children were found on the Causeway at Interstate 10 in New Orleans.

Child # 1
Her name is unknown, however she is believed to be about 2 years old.

Child # 2
His name may be Neiamaya or Jeremiah. His date of birth is unknown; however, he is believed to be about 2 years old.

Child # 3
Her name may be Gabby. Her date of birth is unknown; however, she is believed to be 2 years old.

Child # 4
His name is believed to be Tyreek and he is believed to e about 14 months old.

Child # 5
Her name is believed to be Zaria. She is believed to be 3 years old.

Anyone who has information about any of the children should contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 or the Louisiana Missing Children’s Clearinghouse - 1-225-342-8631.

Meanwhile a very human version of a "lost and found" has been set up at the cavernous Astrodome in Houston.

The makeshift center is where volunteers work to reunite children with their parents.

Bewildered and parentless children get a big hug and a smile from volunteers there. They also have a chance to play games to take their minds off all they've been through since Hurricane
Katrina hit.

In addition to the compassionate welcome, they are asked their names and any details about when they last saw their mother or father.

Volunteer JoAnna Clark says some children can give a name but not all can.

Digital photographs are being taken of each child at the center.

The photos and any information obtained will be placed in a database.

While there are only a handful of children at the center, volunteers have a list with the names of hundreds of children who have been reported missing.
