(April 25, 2008)—A convoy of busses filled with children removed in a raid three weeks ago on a polygamist compound in West Texas arrived in Central Texas late Friday afternoon.

A convoy of four buses, an ambulance and Department of Public Safety cars pulled onto the Methodist Home campus just after 4 p.m. Friday.

The home was expecting about 50 children and it wasn’t immediately clear how many children were on each bus.

The last of the 462 children removed from the sprawling compound were transferred from San Angelo Friday to facilities around the state.

Child Protective Services spokesman Darrell Azar said the last 260 children boarded buses Friday morning bound for foster group homes.

The foster facilities offer a more stable environment so the state can continue its investigation into allegations that the children's parents engaged in physical and sexual abuse.

Mothers described the scene Friday at the coliseum as emotional and rushed.

One tearful woman says her two oldest children were "terrified" and clung to her saying "mother, we want to go with you."

The children will be housed separately from the other residents of the Methodist Home, which cared for children who left the Branch Davidian compound outside of Waco during the 1993 standoff.

I am glad that they are away from the abuse, but I feel so bad for them, I know they are so scared. They have been taken from their Mothers and some siblings have even been split up. Then on top of that, they are being escorted by numerous police cars and an abulance (with lights flashing) to a strange place that they are going to have to call home for awhile. My heart goes out to those precious children!

Praise God they are out of there. Lets hope and pray they can make a normal adjustment to the modern life.
