CORYELL COUNTY (December 5, 2012)—An elderly Copperas Cove woman died Tuesday afternoon on a rural highway in Coryell County when she lost control of her pickup truck and it struck a tree.

Dorothy Vinghouse Moore, 83, died just after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Farm-to-Market road 116 and Coryell County road 145.

Coryell County Justice of the Peace Beverly Jones pronounced Moore dead at the scene and had her body taken to Scott’s Funeral Home, in Gatesville.

The Department of Public Safety trooper who investigated the accident reported Moore was northbound on FM 116 when her 2001 Dodge pickup truck veered off the paved surface, overturned and struck a tree.

The report said she was not wearing a seat belt.
