Local Officials Offfer Reward After Suspicious Fire Destroys House

By: Paul J. Gately Email

MARLIN (December 5, 2012)—A reward is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction after a fire that authorities say was set deliberately destroyed a vacant house early Wednesday in Marlin.

A second abandoned house was also involved, officials said, but no details were provided.

Marlin fire Chief Curtis Keener said the first alarm came in at about 3 a.m. after a Marlin police officer patrolling in the area noticed flames and smoke coming from the house at 817 Coleman.

Keener said flames had engulfed the single-story frame structure by the time firefighters arrived.

Evidence collected at the scene indicates both fires were set deliberately and officials are asking anyone with information to call the Marlin Fire Department or the Marlin Police Department at (254) 883-1454.

No other details were released Wednesday.
